Benefex Consulting Inc. is a Canadian employee benefit and pension consulting firm that was founded in 2002. Our commitment is to deliver unique employee attraction and retention solutions with a focus on cost efficiency and we currently service clients out of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and the Yukon and Northwest Territories.

Each day our consulting team brings over 190 years of experience to the office in the areas of group insurance programs, retirement arrangements, employee and family assistance programs and the facilitation of special risk coverage that address clients’ unique needs. We have extensive experience working with all industries across Canada. We have dealt with a myriad of risk scenarios and have the experience necessary to develop and negotiate a suitable solution to virtually every situation.

Social Responsibility

Benefex takes an active role when it comes to fostering our local communities.

We support a number of charities including: Ronald McDonald House, Wetaskiwin Health Foundation, MS Society of Canada, Stollery Children’s Hospital, Salvation Army, Edmonton Humane Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer Society of Alberta and NWT, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Youth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS) and The Support Network.

Our organization has active membership in the Edmonton Sunrise Rotary Club with Benefex supporting a number of the club’s initiatives including the annual flagship fundraiser in support of the Tourette Syndrome Foundation, Edmonton Chapter.Through our Rotary connection, Benefex works with Inclusion Alberta (formerly Alberta Association for Community Living) by actively participating in a number of their organizational events including the annual “Changing Lives, Changing Communities” Fundraising Breakfast.

Meet Our Team

  • Wade Cox
      Wade CoxPrincipal
      BA (Econ), CLU, CHS, GBA, RPA, CEBS
      Wade has worked in the group life, health and retirement business for 37 years. His experience includes regional group sales management responsibilities for two major insurers in three different provinces. He has worked in Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta. Wade got his start working in the sales and management of individual insurance products, individual and group retirement/pension products, and employee benefit plans for London Life in Ontario. He progressed to manage the London Life office in Saskatoon and subsequently managed the Canada Life office in Edmonton. Wade joined Benefex as a consultant in 2003 and became a partner in 2004. Because of his analytical persona, effective solutions for our clients are properly implemented. Wade has taught courses in Group Insurance as part of the CLU program with Advocis.
    • Brad Seib
        Brad SeibPrincipal
        Brad prides himself in developing long term client relationships where he can apply his passion in developing effective benefits strategies to assist them in meeting their long term business goals. Brad brings to our clients more than 23 years of experience in the group benefits industry. His career includes roles in various sales and leadership capacities, developing benefits solutions for groups ranging in size from small businesses to large international organizations. His substantial underwriting and plan design knowledge is of significant value in building winning client solutions. Most recently Brad was the Director of the Manulife Financial Group Benefits office in Edmonton. Brad is a member of the Executive at his local chapter of the CPBI (Canadian Pension & Benefits Institute).
      • Kyle Stinson
          Kyle StinsonPrincipal
          BSc. (Econ), GBA, RPA
          Kyle is a Benefex partner with over 10 years of consulting experience. He deals with all aspects of client’s benefits plans including: financial underwriting, plan design, funding arrangements, renewal negotiations, retirement planning, and investment management. Before joining Benefex Kyle managed valuation and consultation assignments on a diverse range of investment grade commercial real estate assets for some of Canada’s largest REIT’s, Pension Funds, and publicly traded companies. He was responsible for annual valuation in excess of $500 million and brings a multi-faceted approach to our consulting work. Kyle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Texas A&M University with a Major in Economics & Finance. He is an active member of the Edmonton Sunrise Rotary Club.
        • Ehren Cox
            Ehren CoxConsultant
            BComm, GBA, RPA, CEBS
            Ehren has 10 years of experience in numerous fields within the group benefits industry. The first was as a Disability Case Manager at Great West Life Assurance Co. There he managed an existing caseload of short-term and long-term disability claims, and was chiefly responsible in developing plans to achieve the full recovery and return-to-work of his claimants. Ehren was also previously an Account Executive with Manulife Financial; first managing Small business clients (<50 lives), and then Medium (50-400 lives) and Corporate (>400 lives) sized business. Due to his years of experience in disability claims management, Ehren has developed a reputation as an expert in all matters related to disability and is frequently used as a general resource by his clients for disability and related human resources questions.
          • Leah Perpuluk
              Leah PerpulukConsultant
              Leah spent most of her working life with the largest not-for-profit employee benefit plan provider.  Her 20 years in the industry have included roles where she was: on the front-lines of customer service taking calls from employees, training new entrants to the industry, selling and implementing new benefit plans, and taking chief responsibility for account management.  Most of her career has been spent helping clients with day-to-day service requirements, but she has most recently managed accounts of up to 1000 employees.  She is no stranger to intense renewal negotiations or contract overhauls but is perhaps most at home when she is resolving complicated matters for clients or educating them on new concepts.  Leah is ready and capable to quarterback all of your employee benefit needs; from implementation to renewal.
            • Al Harris
                Al HarrisConsultant
                Al has merged his practice, at ASH Benefit Consulting Group, with Benefex after 25 years of providing both Group Insurance and Retirement Plan consulting employers in the private and public sectors.  In the early part of his career he held sales and management roles with 2 major Canadian life insurance companies and later served as a Senior Consultant with an international HR consulting firm before starting his own firm in 1992.  An area of concentration and real leadership for Al has always been the integrated member education and counselling services he has provided members of Defined Contribution retirement plans.  Al has served on several United Way committees, the Edmonton Social Planning Council, Confederation Minor Hockey, and the board of Windermere Golf and Country Club.  He is a proud father of 2 wonderful adult children and 2 amazing grandchildren who he adores.
              • Randy Stinson
                  Randy StinsonSenior Consultant
                  BA (Honours)
                  Randy, in partnership with Gerry Maciejko, formed Benefex Consulting Inc. in 2002. Randy has 47 years of experience, on both the Insurance Company and Consultant side of the employee benefits industry. He is primarily involved in helping client’s design and finance employee benefit programs that are efficient, effective and consistent with their organizations objectives and the needs of their employees. He also provides senior resource input and peer review for other Benefex consulting activities. Randy is known for creative thinking and finding innovative solutions to clients’ needs thereby helping them to realize their employee benefit program objectives. Over the years Randy has taught CEBS Group Insurance and Group Retirement/Pension courses at Humber College locations in Edmonton and Toronto as well as NAIT.
